Cutting Large Format Tiles

Last week, we featured an article on installing large format tile that included layout, underlayment and grouting options. This week we'd like to touch upon another challenge: How do you cut these large tiles? As large tiles become more in demand and are gaining popularity, one question we often hear is what's the best way to cut these tiles.  If you have a standard wet saw, unfortunately, it's probably just not big enough to handle cutting a 6 x 48 piece of wood-like plank porcelain.  An inexpensive option capable of handling larger tiles is the QEP 650XT Tile Wet Saw.  It has a 8" extension table that attaches to either side to support larger sized tiles, and can handle ceramic, slate, marble, granite and porcelain.  Retailing at $89.99, less money than you can rent for, we think is a viable option for your next tiling job.  Visit our showroom for a full line of cutting and tiling tools or visit our online store at www.milfordceramictile.com for even more options.
